R-2 On, Mediocrity

We as a generation made failure, okay. Made, loneliness, cool. Made losing, fine. We made depression, a constant. Hear me out.

In a way, this was a very big stepping stone. Yes, we needed to normalise failure. Thank the Lord, for taking that pressure off the youth. Yes, we needed to make a conversation about Mental Health, Mainstream. But, this rant is not about those.

It’s about the fact that we made failure a place where we can all Stay. We can. But what’s imperative is that we still try to step towards the goal. This is where we went wrong, we forgot to remember that

It’s okay to fail, Unless you get back up too.

We didn’t emphasise the getting up part, and now because of that, we as a generation make do with mediocre standings.

We Stay. In those lower stages. We’re not even honest with ourselves. We made that normal too. We convince ourselves. A story we tell ourselves again and again Until we forget that it’s a lie. If only we strive for more, we could achieve that. But, No we stop at the average and let go.

Hold on tightly, let go lightly; has become the mantra, when the truth should be, Never let go.For the most parts.

Unless you feel like you’re up against a wall, and you’re actually done pushing. And that stage sure as hell, is never reached in just the 20’s.

I know what I’m saying is a very wrong generalisation of everyone’s circumstances or happenings in life. But, we must realise, for the most part, for the most part, We’ve given up on trying harder.

“Oh, you don’t like me. Okay. Cool. I’ll move on to the next one. But, still manage to convince myself in my conscience that in the end, it was your fault that we ended.” “Oh, I couldn’t make that presentation on time.” Or “oh I couldn’t reach my goal, it’s okay. I’ll try to do it tomorrow.”

My School English teacher used to say:

Those who say I’ll try, never do it. Beacause, now as a generation, Trying means; I’ll look at it, but not long enough to actually see.

We have all started to do the bare minimum, required to stay afloat. When, we should all be trying to swim the hardest, to actually reach the shore.

Until, the next wave.

  1. Never let go is a great mantra. The opening statement is certainly quite a statement; and one with a lot of truth behind it. Thought-provoking stuff.
